International and Regional Organisations Contribute in improving Agricultural and Animal Production

A number of international and regional organizations have begun to provide in-kind and technical contributions to improve agricultural and animal production in Shendi locality.
The representative of the Executive Director of Shendi locality, Abdullah Mohamed Ahmed, said that the organizations of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SADC)the United Peace Organization (UPO)the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Red Crescent (RC)have begun implementing a campaign to vaccinate livestock in northern Shendi targeting more than (22) thousand heads.
They have also committed to providing seeds for rain-fed agriculture in the Tarajma areas with various types of grains and improved seeds.
The representative of the Executive Director and the Director of the North Shendi Unit indicated that the meeting held in Tarajma addressed a number of topics, the most important of which was the maintenance of the well and the cleaning of the main and secondary canals of the Kabushia project from weeds and silt, which directly affected the coverage of the targeted areas with irrigation, which led to a reduction in the areas to about (40%), which led to weak production in some crops.
Abdullah explained that the meeting opened new horizons for cooperation between these international and regional organizations and the Shendi locality in the field of agricultural and animal production and finding newer and larger mechanisms for drying plants for onions, okra and other vegetables that accept drying processes.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Shendi Agriculture Department, Mohamed Musa, Director of the Animal Wealth Department, Dr. Marwa, and a large number of residents of the Tarajma area who confirmed the outcomes of the meeting.
