At least (25) people were killed and dozens were injured on Saturday as a result of violent artillery shelling carried out by drones belonging to the Rapid Support RSF Militia on the city of Al-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, while government authorities accused the Rapid Support RSF Militia of using chemical weapons.
Director General of the Ministry of Health in North Darfur state, Ibrahim Khater, told “Sudan Tribune”: “At least (25) people were killed and more than (50) people were injured as a result of the shelling carried out by the Rapid Support RSF Militia on Saturday on the city of Al-Fasher.”
The government official accused the Rapid Support RSF Militia of committing genocide against the residents of Al-Fasher by deliberately targeting civilian sites with heavy weapons.
He explained that the injuries that arrived at the hospital, and through his observation as a doctor, it became clear that the weapon used was a “chemical” weapon, which is an unusual weapon.
He expected the number of victims to increase due to the failure of some of the injured to reach hospitals.
In turn, Resistance Committees of El Fasher said that the number of victims of the Rapid Support Forces RSF artillery shelling of the city rose to 97 people, between dead and wounded.
The Saudi hospital, which is facing a severe shortage of medicines, particularly intravenous solutions and bandages, received a large number of wounded, some of whom suffered first-degree burns as a result of being targeted with incendiary weapons.
A medical source who spoke to “Sudan Tribune” from the Saudi hospital suggested that the Rapid Support Forces RSF militia used internationally banned weapons in the shelling that took place in El Fasher, and indicated that about nine of the wounded suffered first-degree burns.
The shelling of the Rapid Support Forces RSF targeted the neighborhoods of Al-Radeef Al-Thawra, addition AlDaraja AlUola, the big market, and the livestock and vegetable markets south of El Fasher city.
A drone belonging to the Rapid Support Forces RSF targeted the private sector’s “Nabd Al-Hayat” hospital, which led to significant damage to solar energy systems.
