Foiling of Smuggling Operation of (500) Bags of Scrap Copper

The anti-smuggling departments in the Red Sea and Nile River states foiled large smuggling operations targeting the country’s economic resources.
The anti-smuggling department in the Red Sea state seized one ton of copper on a box vehicle that was on its way out of the country.
In the Nile River state, the department successfully seized 500 bags of scrap copper, which had been professionally packaged for smuggling. The anti-smuggling department confirmed that the seized copper was extracted from electrical equipment and industrial cables in a deliberate attempt to sabotage the country’s infrastructure.
The acting Director General of Customs, Major General Yasser Siddiq Mohamed Ahmed, praised the exceptional efforts of the anti-smuggling departments spread across various states. He confirmed that these efforts have helped combat the smuggling of national resources and emphasized the important role of anti-smuggling forces in protecting the nation’s assets.
The Director of the Anti-Smuggling Department in the Red Sea state, Brigadier General Abbas Abdel-Qader Dinar, explained that the quantities were seized during separate operations thanks to the vigilance of the forces. He assured that the anti-smuggling department works around the clock to protect the nation’s resources, especially amid the current struggle for dignity.
On his part, Brigadier General Adam Omar Sabeel, Director of the Anti-Smuggling Department in the Nile River state, revealed that a special operation, based on precise information and intensive surveillance, led to the seizure of 500 bags of scrap copper, along with other smuggled goods, including 50 cartons of creams, 46 bags of thiourea used in gold extraction, 32 cartons of used clothes, and a Kalashnikov rifle.
