The Chairman of the National Congress Party (NCP) Shura Council, Osman Mohammed Youssef Kibir, revealed significant details about internal disputes within the party following a secret council meeting.
Speaking to the Sudanese Echo website, Kibir addressed the controversy surrounding the position of the party’s deputy chairman, stating that Ahmed Haroun holds the position according to decisions made during the general conference.
Kibir denied that any military personnel or Omar al-Bashir had participated in the secret Shura meeting, dismissing circulating rumors as baseless. He mocked attempts to exclude the NCP by dissolving and banning the party, asserting, “Our belief in the party is that it is like a shadow – it cannot be buried. No matter how much you dig for the shadow, you cannot bury it.”
He also disclosed that four senior party leaders had their membership revoked for their involvement and support of militias, stating, “We withhold their names, but they are well-known.”
