Standards Authority: Scientific Research as a Tool for Product Development and Environmental Protection

The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority has reiterated its commitment to supporting scientific research in the country to achieve scientific results that contribute to improving and developing Sudanese products and protecting the environment. Director of the Authority, Rahbah Saeed Abdullah, mentioned that four memorandums of understanding had been signed with the University of the Nile Valley, Dongola, Khartoum, and Kassala Universities for cooperation in the fields of scientific research, community development, capacity building, institutional development, and promoting the culture of standardization and consumer protection. Rahbah also announced the launch of the Standards and Metrology Award for Excellence and Innovation in Scientific Research in collaboration with Kassala University.
Additionally, Rahbah announced that the Authority is sponsoring two scientific studies this year: one focusing on reducing environmental impacts (evaluation of the environmental and health impacts of artisanal mining in the Nile River and Northern States), and the other on producing a nutritional supplement for children under five years of age using local Sudanese materials.
