Government Official: Militia’s Drone Attacks on Power Stations Are Direct Targeting of Citizens
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
A government official specializing in electricity stated that the militia had targeted more than six power generation stations over ten days in Atbara, Merowe, Senar, Al-Hawata, Dongola, Setit, and the Atbara River.
He mentioned that power stations are vital facilities closely linked to citizens’ daily lives, such as water stations, grain mills, hospitals, and government facilities.
He added that this targeting of power stations is an attempt to make life more difficult for the citizen, but the public understands the militia’s intentions and plans against civilians by targeting power stations.
The official praised the efforts of the engineers in the electricity sector who managed to restore power at the targeted stations, confirming the ability and efficiency of the engineers to rise to the challenge. The achievement of the electrical engineers is as important as the victories achieved by the armed forces on the battlefield. Public confidence in electrical engineers is growing.
He called on security and government authorities to increase security measures for vital facilities, as it seems the militia has chosen to target citizens’ services instead of engaging directly with the armed forces.
