Satellite images dated May 8, 2025, revealed extensive destruction at the Othman Digna Air Base, located north of Port Sudan International Airport, confirming that approximately 60% of the base was destroyed as a result of direct aerial bombardments by the United Arab Emirates.
The attacks resulted in the loss of a military warehouse within the base, which may be the same storage facility referenced by the spokesperson of the Sudanese Armed Forces in his May 4, 2025 statement. Additionally, an IL-76 cargo aircraft parked at the base on the night of May 3 was destroyed. However, some of the base’s structures remain intact, and the airbase has not been completely obliterated.
Satellite images did not show any signs of destruction at the Flamingo Naval Base.
The images also showed ongoing fires at the strategic Port Sudan petroleum storage facility located outside the city, as well as continued burning of the Nile Petroleum Company depots in the city center. These were caused by repeated UAE airstrikes systematically targeting oil infrastructure over the past days.
According to Al-Sharq TV and a British maritime authority, several ships in the Red Sea near the Port Sudan coastline reported sudden technical disruptions in their navigation systems, suggesting likely jamming in the area amid the UAE’s ongoing terrorist air raids.
