Sudan has called on the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and other international and regional organizations to hold emergency meetings to discuss the Emirati aggression against the country.
According to the Sudan News Agency, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hussein Al-Amin, stated that the Foreign Minister had sent messages in this regard to the President of the UN General Assembly, the President of the Security Council, the UN Secretary-General, and other international and regional organizations.
The Undersecretary also briefed UN agencies and organizations based in Sudan on the latest developments, including the UAE’s targeting of vital and civilian facilities in the city of Port Sudan, and clarified the recent decisions made by the Security and Defense Council during its emergency meeting held on the sixth of this month.
He noted that the targeting of vital infrastructure in Port Sudan constitutes a violation of international charters, aims to threaten civil rights, and causes unrest, affirming that the armed forces are capable of handling the situation.
The Undersecretary called on UN agencies and organizations to take a clear stance condemning the recent escalation by the UAE and its proxy, the rebel militia.
During the meeting, Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Salwa Adam Baniya confirmed the stability of the humanitarian situation and the continued flow of humanitarian aid to the states.
For his part, the Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Sudan confirmed that UN agencies continue to operate from Port Sudan and are fulfilling their missions.
