Specifications Authority: We Strive to Provide a Comfortable Work Environment for Employees

The Director General of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO), Rahba Saeed Abdullah, emphasized the importance of teamwork in achieving the organization’s goals.
This came during her speech at the opening of the 2024 Performance Council Program held on Saturday in Port Sudan, with the participation of sector and branch managers from various states.
Rahba noted that the organization places great importance on its employees and is working to provide a motivating and comfortable work environment, along with job security, continuous qualification, and training. She stressed the importance of reviewing the challenges and shortcomings the organization faced over the past year and working to find solutions to correct the course.
She also emphasized the importance of providing outstanding customer service with always-open doors to receive them and offer technical support and advice.
She affirmed the need for timely handling of consumer complaints, resolving them quickly, maintaining communication with complainants, and appreciating their positive engagement.
Rahba called for intensified media efforts to spread awareness about standardization and consumer protection, aiming to enhance public understanding of the importance of standards and measurements.
She also highlighted the role of the organization and its branches across states in rebuilding what the war has destroyed by providing their quality services and contributing to infrastructure restoration.
For the year 2024, the organization reported that it had issued 92 standard specifications, tested, analyzed, and sealed 36.39 tons of gold alloys, and conducted research on the environmental and health impacts of traditional mining in Northern and River Nile states.
The organization also implemented 18 training programs in administrative and technical fields, including the testing and analysis of precious metals and gemstones. It activated memoranda of understanding with Uganda, Russia, and Iran and launched 3,795 media items to promote standardization and consumer protection culture. Additionally, it established internal network connections in its buildings in Ouseif, Karima, Halfa, Abu Hamed, and Kassala.
The organization also won the Best Project Award at the China-Africa Cooperation Conference for its project on seawater desalination and conversion into freshwater. Moreover, it conducted 52 campaigns against non-compliant goods.
