Border Crossing Between Sudan and South Sudan Closed After Armed Attack

The South Sudan People’s Army closed the “Raqeibat” border crossing with East Darfur State on Saturday following an armed robbery incident.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, resulted in the death of two South Sudanese citizens and one Sudanese.

Eyewitnesses told “Darfur24” that unidentified gunmen opened fire on four individuals riding motorcycles on their way to South Sudan.

They stated that the attack left three people dead and one injured.

According to the witnesses, the South Sudan People’s Army deployed hundreds of fighters at the southern entrance of the bridge and completely blocked movement.

The closure of the crossing has caused security tensions in the area and brought daily movement to a halt, leading to the congestion of hundreds of trucks and fleeing civilians heading to South Sudan, as well as patients traveling to receive treatment in Juba hospitals.
