RSF Holds 200 Displaced Families in North Darfur

Local sources reported Saturday that RSF and allied forces detained more than 200 displaced families from El Fasher at the “Silk” camp in Kurma, North Darfur, citing failure to pay transportation fees from Garni village.

A member of Kurma’s emergency committee told Darfur24 that the families—mostly women and children—have been stranded for over a week while trying to reach Tawila, Kutum, Kabkabiya, and Jebel Marra.

The source added that some refugees from South Sudan are among the detainees and have contacted the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for assistance.

One relative of the detainees, Yassin Ibrahim, said RSF demanded 160,000 SDG to allow his family to leave Kurma.
