Sudan: Inflation Rate Rises in August

Sudan’s inflation rate rose in August 2025, reaching 83.05% compared to 78.39% in July, according to the monthly report on consumer price indices and annual inflation trends released Sunday by the Central Bureau of Statistics.
Inflation on imported goods was recorded at 71.37%, down from 76.39% in July. The food and beverages category registered 81.61% compared to 83.64% the previous month. The communications sector saw the highest surge with inflation at 231.36%, followed by education at 187.96%.
At the state level, North Darfur recorded the highest inflation rate at 340%, followed by Gezira at 218.535%, River Nile at 149.99%, and Khartoum at 111.08%.
