On Monday, Prime Minister Dr. Kamel Idris departed for the United States to lead Sudan’s delegation to the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The delegation includes the Minister of Culture, Media, and Tourism Khalid Al-Aysar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohiuddin Salem Ahmed, and several advisors.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver Sudan’s statement before the Assembly and hold meetings with heads of state, the UN Secretary-General, and leaders of international and regional organizations.
Sudan’s delegation will also participate in a range of side events, including the annual ministerial meeting of the Least Developed Countries group, senior officials’ meetings of the G77 and China, coordination meetings of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states, the Arab Consultative Meeting, and the first bilateral summit for a sustainable global economy. Additional engagements will cover accelerating efforts to prevent non-communicable diseases in humanitarian contexts.
The Foreign Minister will hold several bilateral meetings with counterparts and representatives of international and regional organizations.
This participation provides Sudan a platform to highlight developments in the country and the grave human rights violations committed by the RSF, which have involved mercenaries from multiple countries, including Colombia.
Prime Minister Idris was seen off at Port Sudan International Airport by the Ministers of Youth and Sports and Communications and Digital Transformation.
