The Director General of the Sudanese Civil Aviation Authority, Abubakar Al-Siddiq Mohamed Abdallah, said on Monday that the landing of the first Sudan Airways (Sudanair) passenger aircraft at Khartoum Airport on Sunday carries symbolic significance, reflecting victory in what he described as the “Battle of Dignity.” He stressed that the move embodies the return of life to the capital and signals the beginning of citizens’ return to their homes amid an atmosphere of security and stability.
In a statement to Al-Muhaqiq news website, Abdallah explained that all security agencies, across their various components, are working in full coordination to secure the airport, ensuring the safety of citizens and the protection of state facilities.
He noted that the operation of the airport and the safe landing of passenger aircraft were the result of close coordination and integrated efforts among the relevant security authorities, expressing appreciation for the role these bodies played in making this achievement possible.
Abdallah added that current operations at Khartoum Airport are limited to domestic flights, with a gradual expansion plan in place under an organized program aimed at resuming international flights, including those operated by airlines that were previously active.
The Director General emphasized that the Civil Aviation Authority is fully committed to the requirements and standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regarding aviation safety and security, affirming that these standards currently govern air traffic movement within Sudanese airspace and across all airports in the country.
