RSF Detain Families in Kordofan

Sudanese families have reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) detained dozens of travelers, including women, children, and sick individuals, in areas of West Kordofan State while they were heading to , which is under the control of the Sudanese army, amid what were described as harsh humanitarian conditions.

A resident of told Darfur24 that eight members of his family, including women and children, have been detained for more than three days in the “Saqa Al-Jamal” area of West Kordofan after RSF forces prevented them from continuing their journey toward El Obeid.

He added that the detainees are facing difficult humanitarian conditions due to shortages of water and basic services.

Multiple sources told Darfur24 that RSF forces detained dozens of vehicles carrying hundreds of passengers in several areas of Kordofan while they were traveling from Darfur toward cities in central and northern Sudan.

One transportation vehicle owner said that RSF forces have been holding dozens of vehicles for four days in the town of “Al-Mazroub,” while other vehicles traveling toward El Obeid were turned back and taken to RSF offices inside the town.

The source, who requested anonymity, said that most of the travelers are women, children, and sick people, noting that the forces had previously allowed them to travel during recent months before resuming restrictions.

He described the travelers’ conditions as “complicated,” pointing to severe difficulties in obtaining drinking water, with the price of a gallon of water reaching 2,000 Sudanese pounds, amid worsening suffering among those stranded in detention areas.
