Sudan’s Permanent Representative in Geneva Meets Liechtenstein’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister

On the sidelines of his participation in the annual briefing meeting organized by the Principality of Liechtenstein for ambassadors accredited to the country, attended by Prime Minister Brigitte Haas, Ambassador Hassan Hamed Hassan, Sudan’s Permanent Representative in Geneva, met with Sabine Monauni, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Environment and Culture of the Principality.

During the meeting, Ambassador Hassan conveyed the greetings of Sudan’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

He also held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Christine Ling, Deputy Foreign Minister, during which he provided a comprehensive briefing on the extensive attacks launched by the terrorist militia against strategic civilian facilities across various parts of Sudan, using drones launched from within Ethiopian territory.

The ambassador handed over an official memorandum, accompanied by a statement issued by Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the matter, as well as a comprehensive, exclusive report documenting in detail the transfer of weapons, military equipment and mercenaries from the United Arab Emirates to camps belonging to the terrorist militia inside Ethiopian territory.

The Permanent Representative stressed that most of the strategic drones that recently targeted Sudan had been launched from bases in the Ethiopian cities of Bahir Dar and Asosa. This had been verified following the interception of several drones and examination of their operational data, including their launch locations and intended targets.

He warned of the gravity of this aggression and its blatant violation of the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law. He stressed that attacks on electricity and water facilities and other essential service infrastructure constitute fully fledged terrorist acts intended to kill, displace and terrorize civilians and compound their suffering.

He further emphasized that the continuation of these hostile acts and the destabilization of Sudan would have catastrophic consequences for security and stability throughout the region, unless the UN Security Council assumes its responsibility and addresses the role of the United Arab Emirates, which sponsors the militia, and Ethiopia, which has opened its territory for the establishment of bases targeting Sudan, as well as camps for training and deploying foreign mercenaries to support the terrorist militia.
