Ancelotti, Real Madrid’s coach, expressed that he did not expect to score goals so quickly, during the 4-1 victory against Barcelona, in the Spanish Super Cup final, on Sunday evening, at the “Awal Park” stadium in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Ancelotti said, during statements reported by the Spanish newspaper “AS”: “I did not expect that we would score goals so quickly, and we benefited well from the high pressure with Vinicius’ strength in counterattacks, and it was a difficult match.”
He added: “The result is great for Barcelona’s way of playing, and they were trying to get back in the score after we scored the third goal, but the fourth goal ended things completely.”
He continued: “We relied on counterattacks a lot after we advanced by two goals.”
Regarding the scenes of his conversation with the referee, he explained: “I did not tell him anything, I just told him that the match had become tense and that was all.”
Regarding Vinicius’ performance, he explained: “He played very well, and he needed two or three matches to return to his best levels.”
He concluded: “This title means that we are doing a good job, even after the vacation period, and now it is time to continue working and looking forward.”
Vinicius scored a hat-trick in the 7th, 10th and 39th minutes, and Rodrygo in the 64th minute, while Lewandowski scored Barcelona’s only goal in the 33rd minute.
This is Real Madrid’s 13th title in the tournament, one title shy of Barcelona, which has won the title the most.
