Frenchman Sebastien Desabre, coach of the Democratic Republic of the Congo national team, said that their goal is to go as far as possible in the African Nations Championship, currently being held in Côte d’Ivoire.
Desabre said in statements to the official CAF website, today, Monday: “We are in the renewal phase. We want to rebuild, and at the same time provide a distinguished performance.”
He continued: “We had a project to qualify for the African Cup of Nations, Côte d’Ivoire 2023, due to our weak campaign in the qualifiers, but we are finally here.”
He added: “We will enter the competition with a double goal: to go as far as possible, and to continue working on renewing our team. Our preparations for the tournament were good, and we trained better. I have players participating for the first time in the African Cup of Nations, but I have confidence in their abilities.”
The Democratic Republic of Congo will begin its journey in the African Championship, facing Zambia the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, within the framework of Group Six, which also includes Morocco and Tanzania.
