Economist holds the RSF responsible for the deterioration of the Sudanese pound

Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah

The economic expert, Dr. Muhammad Al-Nayer, held the Rapid Support Militia responsible for the decline in the value of the national currency as a result of the war against the Sudanese army, and the deliberate destruction of productive sectors, including losses in the oil and energy sector, and he considered it to have caused pressure in the demand for foreign exchange, which subsequently led to the deterioration of the price of the Sudanese pound after its exchange rate against the US dollar exceeded 1,200 pounds, due to the increase in the import of oil derivatives.

Pointing out the impact of the war on the oil sector in a significant way, he justified this during his talk to (Al-Ahdath) in that the Khartoum refinery covered, on average, between 60 and 65% of Sudan’s need for oil derivatives, which provided a large amount of imported oil derivatives from abroad, which used to be done at a rate of only 35-40%, indicating that now with the cessation of the refinery, the losses have become large and the country has begun to import its needs by 100%.
