Bayer Leverkusen set a new historical record after winning the German League title for the current season 2023-24, after defeating Werder Bremen 5-0 in the match that was held between them yesterday evening, Sunday, at the Bay Arena, in the 29th round of the Bundesliga championship.
Bayer Leverkusen became the first team to remain unbeaten in the first 29 matches of a Bundesliga season (W25 D4), breaking the record set by Bayern Munich in the 2013/14 season, which was 28 matches in the 2013/14 season under Pep. Guardiola.
The goals of the match were scored by: Victor Boniface in the 25th minute of the match after a penalty kick, and Granit Xhaka and Florian Wirtz scored a hat-trick in the 60th, 68th, 83rd and 90th minutes, respectively.
As a result, Bayer Leverkusen is at the top of the German League standings with 79 points, collected from winning 25 matches and drawing 4, keeping its record unbeaten, scoring 74 goals and conceding 19, while Werder Bremen is in twelfth place in the German League standings table with 31 points.
Bayer Leverkusen succeeded in winning the German League title after reaching a 16-point gap with its closest competitor, Bayern Munich, with only 5 rounds remaining in the “Bundesliga.”
