Soldier and artist; Araki and Dirar…a story written by history

Sudan Events – Magda Hassan

Great curiosity and questions continued to surround the departure of the great singer Abu Araki Al-Bakhit from his home after a full year and him moving to a safe place in Omdurman so that he could undergo medical examinations.
Who is this person who bought Araki’s thoughts, persuaded him, and had left his home? A photo appeared that sparked controversy because it brings the singer together with a soldier in the Sudanese army, which is the reason for his departure, but the same picture revealed the extent of the love and risk forced between Araki and the musician Muhammad Dirar, who came from the city of Atbara specifically to persuade Araki to leave and undergo his medical examinations. So who is Dirar?

Artist’s story

The story between Araki and Dirar is narrated by journalist Yasser Araki, who said: More than 12 years ago, I went with journalistic enthusiasm to the Khartoum South Music House to follow up on the house’s preparations to participate in the “Birth of Songs” festival. I was surprised by a young graduate from the violin department at the College of Music and Drama. He was very skilled at playing the violin, leading the way for the rehearsals of singer participating in the festival.

Commitment and diligence

I followed the commitment and keenness of the members of the House Orchestra and the participating singers, including the renovator Adel Muslim, to the guidance of the young maestro Mohamed Dirar, who conveys the melodic idea with a solemnity that rivals the musical score. The rehearsals, due to their seriousness, attracted the attention of the musician Abdullah Arabi and the late singer Othman Mustafa, who followed the song rehearsals for more than five hours without monotony. I share with them the joy of performing and singing over a number of cups of coffee. On the closing day of the festival, Dar Khartoum South Orchestra won the Musical Performance Award, so I wrote a profile about Maestro Dirar, titled “The Little Conductor.”

Graduation of ranks

Before Dirar was a skilled and accomplished player, his proficiency in the violin led him to join the bands of the giants Wardi and Abu Arki Al-Bakhit. He is one of the few graduates who excelled in Solfai reading and musical notation. He has a “musical” ear and is also a skilled listener. His ear picks up the dissonance present in any musical instrument and tries to realized it during the band’s training. This excellence led him to join the music corps and rise through the ranks in a well-known hierarchical manner without changing the maestro’s uniform.

Misery

Journalist Yasser Araki, moved to write after in an attempt to undermine the allegations of the ambassador, “I followed with pity the misery of the condition of some activists after the appearance of a photo of Sudanese army officer Muhammad Dirar gathering with his professor and mentor, musician Abu Araki Al-Bakhit, after he recorded a visit to him at his home to check on him and try to convince him of the necessity of undergoing medical examinations.” He said. Users of Facebook raged, and the activists did not know that the student had chosen a vase of fresh roses for his teacher after a long absence.

Discipline certificates

Testimonies continue to show that Dirar is not an ordinary person. He is the disciplined officer needed for the disciplined execution of music, and Araki is an icon of discipline and seriousness in all singing and music performance. These two people are needed by life itself in order for it to become a life with meaning and purpose. History will speak a lot about this relationship.
Maestro Al-Nour Hassan said that Muhammad Dirar is one of the few who are good at everything in silence. Even talking to Dirar contains the silence of those who know. He is a person packed with knowledge and talent to the point of abundance. Araki and Dirar are an example of humanity and patriotism and do not need justification.
“Dirar, as we wish, is (Dora), and he is actually Dora, Maher Haziq, a glorious artist, first class, disciplined, and a lover of his work. One day, history will be written about him for what he does in his musical and military fields. I wish you knew his value to his leaders.” Television producer Graham Ahmed Braimah added.
“For those who do not know, Dirar arrived in Omdurman specifically for Abu Al-Araki to conduct examinations and for the sake of their relationship. Do not pay attention to what is being said on Facebook and the words of patriotism bond distributors.” He added.
