Barcelona receives compensation from UEFA

Sudan Events – Agencies

Barcelona will receive financial compensation from the European Football Association (UEFA), due to the Dutchman Frenkie de Jong, the Barcelona midfielder.

De Jong was included in the preliminary list of the Netherlands national team to play in Euro 2024, before his exclusion was announced, due to his failure to recover from his ankle injury. Barca will receive 50,000 euros from UEFA, despite De Jong’s exclusion from the Netherlands’ list before the start of the tournament, as UEFA grants financial allocations to clubs whose players are in the euro, at a rate of 10,000 euros for each day, and the calculation begins 10 days before the start of the tournament. The team’s first match in the tournament, and in the case of De Jong, the calculation starts from June 6 because the Netherlands team’s first match in the tournament will be on the 16th of the same month.
