Growing calls for reforms within “Taqaddum”

Sudan Events – Follow-up
There have been increasing calls for reform within the Civilian Democratic Forces Coordination (Taqaddum) through statements and declarations issued by groups affiliated with it.
The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – Democratic Revolutionary Stream, one of the key entities within the alliance, issued an urgent appeal to end the destructive conflict in Sudan, highlighting the dire humanitarian situation and the urgent need for reform within the “Taqaddum” alliance.
In its statement, issued on September 4, the movement emphasized the need for reforms within existing alliances, including “Taqaddum,” of which it is a member, to achieve the critical mass required to end the war and return to the December Revolution platform.
Two days after the SPLM-Democratic Revolutionary Stream issued its statement, another joint statement renewed the call for reform within the alliance. This time, it was signed by the Democratic Revolutionary Stream and the Civilian Forces Alliance for Eastern Sudan, both members of “Taqaddum.”
The joint statement called for “reforming and strengthening existing political alliances to ensure their ability to confront the challenges facing Sudan today, while ensuring broad representation of Sudanese diversity, youth, and women within them.”
Previously, the Democratic Revolutionary Stream announced its decision to send messages to the leadership of the alliance, outlining its views on the necessary reforms and stressing the need for joint work to achieve the critical mass required to end the war.
Meanwhile, the official spokesman for the “Taqaddum” alliance, Bakri Al-Jack, told “Sudan Tribune” that “Taqaddum” has not yet received any vision, proposals, or reform plan from the SPLM-Democratic Revolutionary Stream.
The appointment of the leader of the Professionals’ Association, Taha Othman, as deputy secretary-general of “Taqaddum,” coincided with the emergence of a faction within the Resistance Committees calling for freezing their activities in the alliance in protest against this move, after the committees failed to secure the position.
