On Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry denied that the government was placing obstacles in the way of relief efforts, stating that the permits required for humanitarian workers are meant to protect them.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said, “There is no basis for Western countries’ claims regarding the delay of entry visas and movement permits, as more than 90% of entry requests have been approved, and the movement permits are intended to ensure the safety of humanitarian workers, given the government’s responsibility for their protection.”
The ministry criticized the accusations made by Western countries that the army and government were obstructing humanitarian aid, insisting these accusations lack any foundation and “can only be understood as an attempt to downplay the use of starvation by the RSF as a weapon against the Sudanese people.”
The Foreign Ministry expressed regret over Western countries equating the government’s Humanitarian Aid Commission with a “fictitious entity” aligned with the RSF, which uses it as a cover for its crimes, much like how it exploits UN agencies’ logos, without a firm stance from Western nations. This was in reference to the Sudanese Relief and Humanitarian Operations Agency, established by the RSF in areas under its control.
