Environmental Council: Chemical Pollution in Khartoum Due to Militia Strikes

Dr. Mona Ali Mohamed, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Environment and Natural Resources, revealed that Khartoum State has been exposed to chemical pollution due to rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) striking industrial areas. She stressed the need for collective efforts to address this issue during a training workshop on chemical hazards held in Port Sudan. Mona noted that chemical pollution is common due to the widespread use of chemicals in various products, and she highlighted the importance of raising awareness on both national and local levels. The council also held a second workshop focused on detecting banned hazardous chemicals and wastes, attended by relevant institutions.
