Sudan Events – Monitoring
Member of the Sovereign Council and Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Engineer Admiral Ibrahim Jaber, instructed the Public Prosecution to document recent violations by the renegade militia against civilians in Eastern Al-Jazeera and to file cases against perpetrators in national and international courts.
Jaber met on Sunday with Attorney General Fateh Mohammed Issa Tayfour. The Attorney General stated in a press briefing that he updated the council member on the progress of investigations and prosecutions by the National Committee investigating violations of national and international humanitarian law. He added that legal procedures for detaining suspects, advancing cases to court, and issuing punitive sentences are making tangible progress, with cases already being filed for recent extensive violations in the Al-Jazeera State.
Tayfour noted that the discussions also addressed efforts to repatriate fugitive suspects and announce new groups as terrorists according to upcoming decisions by the technical committee on implementing the Security Council’s decision on terrorist classifications.
