Northern State Governor Abidin Awad emphasized the importance of specifications and standards in life, stating they are a basic pillar in supporting his government’s program and achieving sustainable development. He praised the role of the specifications sector in the state in monitoring and quality control, calling for more efforts to cover all areas of the state, especially at border crossings. The governor expressed his appreciation for the authority’s initiatives in social responsibility, describing them as distinguished and addressing community needs. He called for doubling awareness and education programs to enable consumers to protect themselves and the community. The governor confirmed that specifications represent a technical reference and that they need to be considered in the strategic planning of northern state revival programs and the protection of its citizens. For her part, Rahba Said Abdullah, Director-General of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority, confirmed her interest in developing technical work in the promising northern state with its diverse competitive resources. The governor witnessed the opening of a hallmark laboratory in Dongola according to the latest global systems and listened to a detailed explanation of the device’s work. He also laid the foundation stone for the new branch buildings in Dongola. Additionally, the authority’s delegation conducted inspection visits to shelter centers, a dialysis center, and a cancer center, and launched a kitchen to prepare and serve meals for kidney patients, pledging to support the affected and patients under the specifications program for community responsibility.
