Finance Minister Calls for Increased Funding for War-Affected Nations

Finance Minister Dr. Jibril Ibrahim emphasized the need for an international financial response to support countries affected by fragility, conflicts, and violence. Speaking at the Development Committee’s plenary session during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in Washington, he stressed the importance of increasing funding to these countries to address global challenges such as climate change, rising poverty, and unemployment.
The minister recommended expanding funding through the World Bank’s International Development Association to meet sustainable development goals in Africa and aligning financial goals with each country’s local priorities, focusing on infrastructure, agriculture, education, and food security.
