Russia Challenges International Olympics Before “CAS”

Russian Olympic Committee appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to appeal the suspension decision issued against it by the International Olympic Committee, the court announced on Monday.

CAS said that the Russian Olympic Committee “requests that the contested decision be annulled, and that it be reintegrated as recognized by the International Olympic Committee, benefiting from all the rights and privileges granted by the Olympic Charter.”

On October 12, the International Olympic Committee decided to suspend Russia’s membership “with immediate effect” because it placed under its authority four organizations in occupied Ukrainian regions, which is considered a violation of the Charter.
