Turkish Promises to Rehabilitate Bridges in Sudan

The Sudanese Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bushra, met with the Turkish Ambassador Fatih Yildiz in his Port Sudan office. Also present was Mohamed Al-Amin Turk, leader of the Hadendoa tribe and head of the Supreme Council of Beja Tribes and Independent Chiefs. They discussed plans to rehabilitate bridges along the Gash River.
Minister Al-Bushra pledged to provide an engineering study from the Sudanese government and submit recommendations to the Turkish counterpart committee as soon as possible. Ambassador Yildiz assured Sudan of Turkey’s commitment to rehabilitate bridges and manage the Gash River to support small-scale farmers around the river’s basin. He confirmed Turkey’s support with a contribution of 5,000 tons of wheat and vegetable seeds for Sudanese smallholders in the upcoming winter season.
