Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The official spokesperson for the government and Minister of Culture and Information, Khaled Al-Issa, announced that the initial estimates for losses in the culture, antiquities, and tourism sector due to the attacks by the Rapid Support Forces militia amount to $110 million, according to preliminary statistics compiled by the Ministry of Culture and Information through specialized committees.
In his weekly briefing on the militia’s violations, held at the General Intelligence Service hall in Port Sudan on Monday, Al-Issa reviewed the destruction inflicted on the tourism, culture, and antiquities sectors due to the systematic sabotage carried out by the militia in their war against the Sudanese nation.
Al-Issa revealed that the terrorist militia had destroyed and looted the contents of 20 museums, including the National Museum, the Presidential Palace (an ancient building), the Military Museum, the Sultan Ali Dinar Museum in Al-Fasher, North Darfur, and several other well-known museums.
He added that the Ministry had prepared a comprehensive booklet detailing the violations and transgressions committed by the militia in the fields of tourism, antiquities, and culture.
