Everton Manager Warns Players of Manchester City’s Resurgence

Everton manager Sean Dyche has warned his players not to underestimate Manchester City, despite the latter’s recent poor form, even as Everton’s confidence continues to grow.
Although Everton lost their first four matches of the season, they quickly found their footing, suffering just two defeats in their last 12 league matches. This recovery reflects Dyche’s ability to stabilize the team, which had struggled with player fitness issues following a disrupted preseason, according to the British coach.
On the other hand, Manchester City is seeking to escape a prolonged slump, having lost nine of their last 12 matches across all competitions.
Dyche cautioned his team about a potential City comeback as they prepare to visit the Etihad Stadium on Thursday for the Premier League’s 18th round.
Speaking about City’s players, Dyche said, “They’ve achieved so much under Pep (Guardiola) over the years that everyone seems to assume it’s a matter of when, not if, they return to their usual form and results.”
Dyche added, as quoted by British news agency PA Media, “I don’t know all of Pep’s history, but I think it’s unlikely he’s faced a period like this before.”
He continued: “You might think it happens at some stage, even to the best managers—and he’s undoubtedly one of the greatest ever. But for him, going through a tough spell shows how challenging the game is, even for the best teams.”
Dyche emphasized, “They haven’t all become bad players overnight, and he’s certainly not a bad coach. You have to be cautious but equally confident in what we do and the strength of our performances.”
Everton will be without one of their standout players this season, Ashley Young, due to suspension after receiving his fifth yellow card.
Everton currently sits 15th in the table with 16 points and has a game in hand against Liverpool. Meanwhile, Manchester City occupies seventh place with 27 points.
