Amorim: No Christmas Joy.. Frustrated with United

Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim admitted on Tuesday that while dealing with the club’s struggles in the Premier League has been frustrating, he is confident in his ability to resolve them.
United will visit Wolverhampton on Boxing Day, looking to recover from two consecutive defeats. Amorim, who took charge last month with the team in 14th place, has led United to two wins, three losses, and one draw in six league matches.
United enters Christmas in 13th place—their lowest position on December 25 since 1986, when they were 15th under Alex Ferguson during his second month in charge.
Amorim told reporters: “This is probably one of the worst moments in our club’s history. We need to face it and deal with it head-on.”
When asked why the club hasn’t made significant progress, the Portuguese coach replied, “If I knew (the reason), I would fix all the club’s problems, even this one (rainwater leaking from the roof). I know what I need to do—it’s very clear to me. I won’t say I feel comfortable because I’m genuinely frustrated. It’s a very tough moment, but we’ll solve the problems step by step and find answers for everything.”
The former Sporting Lisbon coach added, “I just want to win. I don’t care about Christmas. My sole focus is on winning the next match. That’s all that matters. We’re fortunate (in England) to play on Boxing Day to bring joy to fans, and we’re determined to win that match.”
Amorim, 39, confirmed that defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Victor Lindelof would be unavailable, and he plans to use a different lineup to prevent further injuries.
“At the moment, it’s not about rotating players or preparing for the future,” Amorim explained. “It’s simply about avoiding injuries. We’re trying to handle everything. I understand there’s a long-term project, and we’re focused on it. But injuries would create major problems.”
Amorim’s squad has been without Marcus Rashford (27) for the last three matches in all competitions. The coach questioned the decisions made by the forward’s entourage after Rashford stated he was ready for “new challenges.”
“Some players here carry significant responsibility because they’ve been here for a long time,” Amorim said of the academy graduate. “If you have great talent, we need great performances, responsibility, and hard work to lift everyone during this difficult time.”
