Kinsky’s Dream Debut for Tottenham Against Liverpool

Antonin Kinsky, Tottenham Hotspur’s new goalkeeper, admitted that his debut in their 1-0 win against Liverpool in the EFL Cup was beyond his wildest dreams.
The 21-year-old joined Spurs permanently from Slavia Prague last Sunday and made his first appearance under coach Ange Postecoglou on Wednesday. Kinsky delivered a stellar performance, making two crucial saves to deny Liverpool’s Darwin Núñez in the second half, with Lucas Bergvall scoring the decisive goal in the 86th minute. At the final whistle, Kinsky celebrated by hugging his sister in the stands.
Smiling, Kinsky said, “Yes, I would say that beating Liverpool 1-0 in the EFL Cup semi-final with a clean sheet is a good start.”
He added, “I dream a lot, but I’m realistic. I probably never dreamed of this, so I’m thrilled to experience it.”
He continued, “I’m very happy my family was there to see it. I’m happy for them.”
Despite playing 29 matches for Slavia Prague this season and keeping 14 clean sheets, it was a bold decision by Postecoglou to immediately start Kinsky in goal behind a makeshift defense. The manager preferred Kinsky over Fraser Forster and Brandon Austin, who impressed against Newcastle last Saturday.
However, Postecoglou’s decision paid off as Kinsky’s composure with the ball stood out compared to his fellow goalkeepers. The young Czech international was more than happy to contribute to the team’s play from the back.
