The Anti-Smuggling Administration in the Nile River State, Berber branch, thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of weapons and ammunition, following a fierce chase and exchange of gunfire that resulted in the seizure of a double-cabin pickup truck carrying 164 rifles, along with several suspects.
The Director General of Customs Forces, Major General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, praised the operation carried out by the anti-smuggling force in the Nile River State, emphasizing that this seizure reflects the vigilance and readiness of the anti-smuggling forces in countering all forms of smuggling, especially weapons, which pose a threat to national security.
For his part, the Assistant Director General for Anti-Smuggling, Major General Yasser Sadiq Mohamed Ahmed, commended the efforts of the Anti-Smuggling Administration in Nile River State, praising the efficiency and alertness of the forces in performing their field tasks with high competence.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Anti-Smuggling Administration in Nile River State, Brigadier General Adam Omar Sabeel, confirmed that the seizure came after a violent chase and exchange of gunfire. His forces managed to control the vehicle carrying 156 Kalashnikov rifles, 8 M16 rifles, a Kornet anti-tank gun, and 8,000 Kornet rounds. He noted that all legal procedures had been taken against the suspects.
According to the media follow-up from the Customs Forces, they reaffirm their full commitment to continuing their efforts in combating smuggling and protecting the national economy and the stability of the country by intensifying long and short patrols to apprehend anyone attempting to threaten the security and economy of the nation.
