Sudan’s Minister of Minerals Inaugurates Sudan’s Pavilion at the International Mining Exhibition in Canada

Sudan’s Minister of Minerals, Mohamed Bashir Abu Numo, inaugurated Sudan’s pavilion at the International Mining Conference and Exhibition in Canada. The event is attended by over 25,000 businesspeople, investors, scientists, and mining industry professionals from around the world, as well as more than 60 ministers from various countries.

Minister Abu Numo highlighted the victories of the Sudanese Armed Forces, joint forces, and mobilized personnel in ending the militia rebellion. He emphasized that these successes have encouraged Sudan to participate in this global forum to showcase and promote its mining and investment potential.

He further stated that the Ministry of Minerals would deliver an official address at the event, outlining Sudan’s economic and developmental capabilities. Additionally, the ministry plans to sign agreements with several companies, reaffirming Sudan’s promising future, especially given the determination of its people to achieve stability, development, and investment growth.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bakhit Dahiya, Sudan’s acting ambassador to Canada, reaffirmed the strong Sudanese-Canadian relations. He described Minister Abu Numo’s visit and the inauguration of Sudan’s pavilion as steps toward enhancing economic and investment cooperation with North America. He added that Sudan’s participation aligns with its natural role in the international community and reaffirms its sovereignty and territorial integrity amid current circumstances.

Engineer Nasr Al-Din Al-Hussein, General Manager of Ariab Mining Company, stated that Sudan’s investment laws are favorable for foreign investors. He described the mining sector as one of the most unique and professional industries in the country despite ongoing challenges. He also revealed ongoing negotiations to develop Sudan’s copper and mining waste sector within Ariab Mining Company, with discussions underway with various stakeholders, the results of which will be announced soon.

Nasr Al-Din further noted that Sudan’s mining sector continues to operate efficiently, and with an expected gold production of approximately 64 tons in 2024, Sudan is on track to reclaim its position as the third-largest gold producer in Africa.
