Sudan defeats Congo with friendly fire

Congolese defender Charles Bekele took over for the Sudanese national team attackers and scored an own goal into his goal net that ensured victory for the Jedyan Falcons in the confrontation that brought them together this Sunday evening at the Benina Martyrs Stadium in the Libyan city of Benghazi for the second round of Group B in the African World Cup qualifiers.
The first half of the match ended in a scoreless draw and both sides of the match failed to reach the goal. After entering the break, the Congolese player succeeded in decoding his team’s defense and scored an own goal in the 79th minute of the match.
As a result, the Sudanese team raised its score to 4, while Congo stagnated at 3 points after its victory over Mauritania in the first round, in which Sudan tied against Togo.
