Efforts to Combat Crime in Khartoum

The Khartoum State Security Committee held its regular meeting on Thursday, chaired by Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza, and attended by Minister of Interior Lt. Gen. Babiker Samra, the Deputy Director-General of Police, the Inspector General of Police, and the Head of the Administrative Affairs Authority.

The meeting addressed several issues related to enhancing security across the state. It reviewed reports on the implementation of security cordons in suspected areas, which yielded positive results, including the arrest of habitual criminals in possession of stolen goods.

The meeting also assessed the outcomes of joint patrol operations and the efforts of the security cell in fighting crime, apprehending collaborators, and tracking organized gangs.

It praised the qualitative progress in combating crime, attributing the success to increased security presence.

Additionally, the meeting discussed with representatives of banks the issue of overcrowding by citizens and security personnel at bank branches in Omdurman and Karari. Several proposals were agreed upon to address this issue.

The committee also listened to a report from the Commission for Refugees on its efforts to relocate foreign nationals to designated areas. The meeting commended these efforts and called for continued relocation operations.

The meeting also called for ongoing removal of informal settlements, noting that many crimes were being committed within these unregulated areas.
