Warnings to Sudanese Citizens Wishing to Return from Egypt

The Military Industry Corporation issued a notice to Sudanese citizens regarding the free voluntary return project via train from Cairo to Aswan, southern Egypt.

In a statement, the Corporation said it had observed several Sudanese families arriving at the train station on Monday without prior booking or notification, resulting in their inability to travel.

The Voluntary Return Project Committee stated: “It is unfortunate that we must inform all Sudanese wishing to return that travel is only available through prior registration in the voluntary return lists, and priority is given based on the order of registration. Individuals on the day’s travel list are contacted one or two days in advance to attend at the designated time and place.”

The committee warned Sudanese returnees of scams being carried out in the name of the project, noting that certain individuals and entities with no official capacity have been exploiting people’s desire to return by committing fraud under the project’s name or otherwise, often disappearing when it is time to travel.

The committee referred to a major scam incident in Alexandria, where many Sudanese citizens fell victim to a conman who later fled. It urged all those opting to return through the Corporation to exercise caution and avoid falling prey to such criminals.
