Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, met with a group of Sudanese intellectuals, journalists, academics, and businesspeople in Doha at the Sudanese Embassy.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Arab-Islamic Summit recently concluded in the Qatari capital.
Al-Burhan discussed the overall situation in Sudan amid what he described as a “war of national dignity” being fought by the Sudanese people alongside their army. He expressed gratitude to the government and people of Qatar, commending Doha’s supportive stance toward Sudan, and affirmed Sudan’s solidarity with Qatar in the face of Israeli aggression.
He underscored that Sudan is waging a decisive battle for the honor and dignity of its people, pointing to significant victories achieved by the armed forces and allied groups. He said these gains were only possible due to popular support for the army and faith in its ability to defeat the “terrorist Rapid Support Forces militia.”
Al-Burhan reiterated openness to initiatives to end the war provided they respect Sudan’s sovereignty and unity: “We cannot mortgage our sovereignty to any state, regardless of our relations with it.” He pledged protection for those who lay down arms, adding: “Any opposition politician who returns to reason will find the political arena welcoming.”
He vowed that the fight would continue until the siege on El-Fasher, Zalingei, Babnousa, and all areas under militia control is lifted. He praised the armed forces, security services, joint forces, and popular resistance for their sacrifices. Participants in the meeting shared views aimed at strengthening Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, while supporting the army in its war “to cleanse the nation of the Dagalo militia.”
