Sudan Participates in Arab–China Forum on “Beidou” System for Mining

Sudan’s Ministry of Minerals took part in the 5th Arab–China Cooperation Forum on the Beidou Satellite Navigation System, held on September 24–25 in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, China. The delegation was led by geological adviser Radwan Ahmed Mohamed, Director of Projects at the Geological Research Authority.
The event was organized by the Arab Organization for ICT in partnership with China’s Beidou Satellite Navigation Administration. Attendees included representatives from Arab countries, Chinese government agencies, and technical experts. Sudan’s Chargé d’Affaires in Beijing, Ambassador Maimouna Ahmed Mohamed, and Ambassador Mohamed Hussein also actively participated.
On the sidelines, the Sudanese delegation held talks with several partners to explore cooperation in developing mining operations using Beidou technology.
Forum discussions also addressed ways to enhance Arab–China collaboration in applying Beidou to sectors including mining, precision agriculture, transportation and navigation, geospatial surveying, infrastructure, and major projects, along with training programs and technical exchanges to equip Arab professionals.
Beidou, China’s global alternative to the U.S. GPS system, provides navigation, positioning, and timing services and is seeing expanding practical use both in China and across parts of the Arab world.
