Afwerki: We Support Efforts to Achieve Security and Stability in Sudan

Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki received Sudan’s Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, and Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism, Khaled Al-Eisir, the day before yesterday in the rural area of Adi Halo, as part of an official visit by a Sudanese delegation to Eritrea.

The meeting addressed overall bilateral relations between Sudan and Eritrea and ways to strengthen and develop them across various fields. It also explored prospects for joint coordination on issues of mutual concern and consultations on regional and international developments.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continued political communication and coordination in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and enhances stability in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.

During the meeting, the two ministers conveyed the appreciation of the Sudanese government and people for Eritrea’s supportive stance toward Sudan, praising the facilities and care provided to Sudanese residents and transit travelers amid the exceptional circumstances facing the country.

They also commended President Afwerki’s political positions in support of Sudan’s unity, security, and stability, and his solidarity with the Sudanese state and people in confronting current challenges.

For his part, President Afwerki reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening its historical relations with Sudan and supporting efforts aimed at achieving security and stability, stressing the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between the two countries in addressing shared challenges.

In a related development, the ministers of finance and culture, information and tourism attended a ceremony hosted by the Sudanese Embassy in Asmara yesterday to mark the 70th anniversary of Sudan’s independence.

The event was widely attended by Eritrean ministers and officials, ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Eritrea, staff of the Sudanese Embassy, and large numbers of Sudanese and Eritrean citizens.

The program included the screening of a documentary film highlighting developments in Sudan, crimes committed by the RSF militia, external support provided to it, and the involvement of several countries in events targeting the Sudanese state and its people.
