Diplomatic sources have revealed plans for European envoys to visit Sudan at the end of the current month.
The sources told Al-Muhaqqiq website that the visit aims to continue discussions and consultations with officials and relevant authorities involved in humanitarian work within the government.
They added that a European technical delegation, comprising several European officials, visited Port Sudan two weeks ago and met with government representatives. The upcoming delegation is expected to visit Sudan by the end of the month or, at the latest, early February.
In this context, Sudan’s Ambassador to Brussels and Head of Mission to the European Union, Abdelbagi Hamdan Kabeer, confirmed that the EU’s position on Sudan’s unity and sovereignty has remained firm and unchanged since the outbreak of the war.
He noted that the European Parliament reaffirmed this stance in an official statement last November, stressing that it does not recognize any parallel government or authority in areas controlled by the RSF. Similar positions, he said, have been reiterated in all statements issued by the European Commission, both collectively and individually by member states.
Kabeer told Al-Muhaqqiq that the EU has consistently emphasized respect for Sudanese sovereignty and the preservation of the country’s territorial integrity, adding that its latest statement reaffirmed the same firm position—rejecting recognition of any parallel entities or authorities in militia-controlled areas and calling on all EU member states to adhere to this stance.
