Sudan Defines International Litigation Pathways to Pursue Militia Leaders

Minister of Justice Abdullah Darf, Chairman of the Committee for Initiating and Following Up International Lawsuits Against the Dagalo Militia, its leaders, and supporting states, chaired a committee meeting on Monday at the ministry’s headquarters.

The meeting reviewed reports submitted by subcommittees responsible for identifying international and regional legal avenues, as well as determining countries whose domestic legislation permits litigation related to war crimes and crimes against humanity. Reports from the Evidence and Documentation Committee were also examined.

The committee discussed the various reports and approved the report of the Legal Pathways Committee. The meeting further directed the Evidence and Documentation Committee to complete its work, after which preparations for drafting legal petitions and claims will commence.
