Gadarif health situation is catastrophic…Sudan Doctors Syndicate states
Khartoum – Sudan Events
The preliminary committee of the Sudan Medical Syndicate described the health conditions in Gadarif State as catastrophic following the spread of dengue fever, especially in the central Gadarif and Galabat localities, which resulted in a large number of infections and deaths (hundreds of deaths and thousands of infections).
The Syndicate said that the fever was in most homes to the point that it made investigating the number of infections difficult, the syndicate added that the number of people in homes was many times more than those arriving at health facilities, calling on the Ministry of Health to provide resources to confront the epidemic, while asking community forces to form support teams that would contribute to draining and burying water pools and carrying out pesticides spraying campaigns.
It is known that dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. It get active during the day after sunrise, two hours before sunset and spreads in homes.
The incubation period of the disease ranges from 3 to 14 days, and usually from 4 to 7 days.
