Childhood Vaccinations Arrive in Localities in North Darfur

Khartoum – Sudan Events
The Director of the Expanded Immunization Program in North Darfur Health, Youssef Abdel-Wahab, announced that childhood vaccinations have arrived in more than (10) out of a total of (18) localities, despite the war conditions that the state is going through.
In a statement, Abdul Wahab appreciated the efforts of the joint forces and the armed struggle forces in securing the arrival of vaccines targeting (11) diseases, including other states of Darfur (South, West, Central, and East Darfur). He said it was like saving the children.
He revealed a number of challenges facing the immunization program, the most important of which is (preserving vaccines) due to the lack of permanent and continuous electricity supply through the cold chain, the only one of its kind, “enough to supply the five states of Darfur.” He said.
The scarcity of fuel, in addition to its delivery to localities, pointed out the contribution of health partners from organizations in the delivery of vaccines.
