Doctors Without Borders: Shocked and Angry About Bombed Hospital

Sudan Events – Talal Mudathir

Doctors Without Borders said that Al-Naw Hospital, which it provides support for, was bombed in Omdurman on Monday. The bombing will only reduce the chances of obtaining medical care for people who are in dire need of it.
The organisation added in an angry statement in which it sent condolences to the families of the victims: “We feel shocked and angry after a fully functioning hospital was bombed; We have repeatedly called for the protection of medical facilities and civilian lives. The deplorable attacks on healthcare workers, facilities, patients, caregivers and civilians must stop immediately, to prevent further loss of innocent lives from this conflict.”
The organization described such attacks as “brutal” and “ cruel.”
On Monday, the rebel Rapid Support militia bombed Al-Naw Hospital in Omdurman, where a shell hit the emergency department, killing two patients’ attendants and wounding five people. They were immediately transferred to alternative facilities, while four other shells exploded directly outside the hospital, killing two people and injuring several others.
