Agricultural Bank to Finance Wheat cultivation

The Sudanese Agricultural Bank announced process of financing the cultivation of wheat crop in the Gezira Scheme in an area estimated at 300 thousand fedans, and arrangements with the Gezira Scheme, are underway.
The Deputy Director General of the Agricultural Bank, Dr. Ezzeldin Fagiri, confirmed in press statements (Monday) the bank’s seriousness in financing the winter season, during which 1 million and 80 thousand fedans are scheduled to be cultivated in the Gezira, Halfa, Northern State, River Nile and the White Nile states. He underlined that the bank takes this issue seriously.
He added that the total financing amounts to 359 billion pounds until the completion of wheat and other crops cultivation operations.
Dr. Ezzeldin revealed that the current season’s proposed area was 47 million fedans, which is a drop to 37 million fedans. The Agricultural Bank financed more than 9 million fedans.
He called on the state to enter into strategic stocks to avoid risks and protect farmers against falling crop prices.
