Heiban witnessed the conclusion of the Nubian Nuggara wrestling carnival

In Nuba Mountains region, the carnival that was held yesterday in Heiban Square, south of Gandaro, came amid a large presence of fans who loved wrestling, the voices of chirps, the ululations of the referees, and the girls’ songs rose in joy and encouragement for the competitors, marking the start of the carnival.
The whistle of the expert referee in Nubian wrestling, Al-Nour Koko Oga, blew to announce the beginning of the final day of the carnival, with (4) teams from Heiban Province competing, represented by the regions: Hajar Baku, Karindi, Kajama al-Sharqiya, and Kimbra.
It is worth noting that Nuqqara wrestling is one of the oldest popular sports among the Aturu, Lira, and Shawaya tribes.
While adhering to the authentic traditions in the organization, the tribes use a number of different musical instruments in addition to the percussion instrument in the conflict, and with a show of accompanying folk dances such as “janago and karnaq” with the participation of young people of both sexes, in addition to the coincidence of holding this carnival with the phase of the full moon.
