Real Madrid was crowned champion of the Spanish League, for the 36th time in its history, on Saturday evening, after Barcelona stumbled against Girona.
Real Madrid had achieved a 3-0 victory over Cadiz, and waited for any faltering by the Blaugrana against Girona, which actually happened, as Barca lost 2-4.
Real Madrid leads the La Liga standings with 87 points, 4 rounds before the finish line.
Girona comes in second place with 74 points, one point behind Barcelona, which is in third place.
Real Madrid is the team that has won the most La Liga titles, followed by Barcelona (27 titles) and Atletico Madrid (11 titles).
Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti returned the La Liga title to the Merengue coffers, after losing it last season to rival Barcelona.
